Brothers of the Endless Hill
Brothers of the Endless Hill
by Robert Cade Thompson
A brother among strangers came upon an endless hill,
Miles up with no water,
Took the wrong path.
Thunder boomed and thick rain fell – Terrible and wonderful,
Don’t fight the pain, embrace it,
Patience and prayer.
Boundless optimism leads, uphill is just the new flat,
Back-track the buzzing mountains,
Decide to stay.
Lost on the way to Lost Lake, (can you snap a metal pen?)
Combat the negative thoughts,
A new path found.
Three filthy ponds of false hope with a wide and constant swarm,
But challenge brought great reward,
A heaven send.
An understanding blossomed with slow but solid progress,
A few strangers become brothers
Along the path.
A brother among brothers descended a mighty hill,
With improved testimony,
Not lost, but found.
